SoundScape is bound by their passion for ethnic music and together they create a musical masala that will captivate you, the listener... taking you on a journey toward unchartered lands. Hence the title which in loose translation indicates "The Paradise of Aimless Journeymen". This album combines SoundScape's musical compositions and rendering of ancient Indian songs and mantras beautifully fused with instrumental landscapes and traditional songs from the lead singer's own Tibet. A unique quality of the band is a vast array of ethnic instruments from across the globe: the dynamic earth tones of the Indian Dholak, Frame drums and Udu, African Djembe and Spanish Cajon, as well as the Didgeridoo set the groove and ground the etheric flow of the wide range of melodic instruments such as the Balinese Suling and Pakistani Alghoza, the Harmonium and Indian jawharp; the vibrant light of Lamu's voice from Tibet and mystical scents from SoundScape's Indian voices. The initial idea behind SoundScape was to create a platform for musicians from different cultural and musical backgrounds to come together. It evolved over the years and became the band that it is today. Shanghai is SoundScape's birthplace, lending itself to the contemporary element of the music by being the cosmopolitan city that it is, and it is this fusion of cultures and musical styles that gives the band their unique flavor. SoundScape is an experience, so whether you prefer to sit back and listen or dance your socks off just enjoy the ride!
