简介：Strucky Yi is a composer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist. After earning his dual degrees of music performance and finance from the South China University of Technology, he went to the United States to pursue a Master's and a PS in Composition at the Manhattan School of Music. While there, he studied classical composition with Marjorie Merryman, David Adamcyk, and Reiko Fueting, and jazz composition and improvisation with Damien Sneed, Miguel Zenon, and Marc Cary. His collaborations with jazz musicians include Joe Martin, Gilad Hekselman, Matt Penman, Reuben Rogers, Simon Moullier, Nicola Caminiti.. As a seasoned composer, Yi has collaborated with the American Composers Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Manhattan Philharmonia, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. His compositions and arrangements have been performed in concert halls across China and the United States, including at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Beijing Concert Hall, Blue Note Beijing & Shanghai, Shanghai Jazz at Lincoln Center, Guangzhou Opera House, Suzhou Culture and Arts Center, Suzhou Poly Grand Theatre, Zhuhai Grand Theatre, Qingdao Grand Theatre, DiMenna Center, Town Hall, Neidorff-Karpati Hall in New York, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Opera House of St. Louis in Missouri, and Midtown Art & Theatre Center in Texas. His compositions and performances, characterized by a unique and diverse musical palette, encompass a wide range of genres, from practical music to traditional and contemporary classical and jazz. His music is characterized by a meticulous treatment of timbre, harmony, and rhythm, profound literary imagery, and a philosophical narrative of life experiences.
