La corteza is the third single from Umbrales del 94, and marks the beginning of the album's sonic narrative: an intimate farewell to the inner child and the start of a journey into adulthood. Written as an open letter, the song honestly explores the grief that comes with growing up—leaving behind certain illusions and embracing new ways of inhabiting the world. Built on the rhythmic foundation of a cacharpaya—a traditional Andean carnival rhythm associated with farewells—the track captures a heartfelt gesture of goodbye. An acoustic guitar leads the narrative with raw sensitivity, while layers of sound gradually unfold: a charango processed with electronic effects, samples recorded during a Black and White Carnival parade, a deep synthesized bass, and reverberated electric guitars. With La corteza, Juan Pablo Luna continues to weave a musical universe where Andean traditions, electronic textures, and personal storytelling intertwine to portray a deeply autobiographical transformation.
