Following the release of Myopia in 2020, this new album was written, recorded, arranged and produced entirely in Obel’s Berlin studio. Across 12 atmospheric, genre-defying tracks, The Meaning of Flowers captures a period of profound personal and creative transformation. Inspired by the birth of her first child, Obel explores themes of natality, interconnectedness and metamorphosis, reflecting on how new life reshapes the body, the mind and one’s relationship to the wider world. Her new music draws on a broad range of sources, from the poetry of Enheduanna (the world’s first named author) and the ideas of philosophers Hannah Arendt and Emanuele Coccia, to the Danish pop scene of the 80s and 90s. ‘Gemini’ Lyrics: Gemini knows what I never will How we grew into two Turning life into a ring Dream and grow, I took on the riddle, baby Oh no Gemma seed go work, Gemma seed go work However it may ricochet, Gemma seed grow worlds A dragonfly told Me to look into the creek And let it slip into my soul And let the torrent be mine, be mine Gemma seed grow worlds, Gemma seed grow worlds However it may ricochet, Gemma seed grow worlds Whatever makes a seed I never will know Does energy grow old? Or does it come and go? A miracle A miracle that saves the world Oh I’m knocking on the distance Walking on And the void answers Gemma seed grow worlds, Gemma seed grow worlds However it may ricochet, Gemma seed grow worlds Follow Agnes online: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/agnesobel Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/agnesobelofficial X: https://www.twitter.com/agnesobel Artist Website: https://www.agnesobel.com Video Producer: Alex Brüel Flagstad
