Following the release of Myopia in 2020, this new album was written, recorded, arranged and produced entirely in Obel’s Berlin studio. Across 12 atmospheric, genre-defying tracks, The Meaning of Flowers captures a period of profound personal and creative transformation. Inspired by the birth of her first child, Obel explores themes of natality, interconnectedness and metamorphosis, reflecting on how new life reshapes the body, the mind and one’s relationship to the wider world. Her new music draws on a broad range of sources, from the poetry of Enheduanna (the world’s first named author) and the ideas of philosophers Hannah Arendt and Emanuele Coccia, to the Danish pop scene of the 80s and 90s. ‘Never Been’ Lyrics: Keep your faith In some phenomena All your own Oh my, you release me from all I’ve never been Oh woman now, nothing will go back to where it’s never been Oh my, you release me from all I’ve never been Oh woman now, nothing will go back and never to be seen I take the bait Where the arrow has cleaved its way I don’t want to need to say I’m alive From memory I know nothing, nothing Oh my, you release me from all I’ve never been Oh woman now, nothing will go back to where it’s never been Oh my, you relieve me from all I’ve never been Oh woman now, nothing will go back and never to be seen Never been, never to Never been, be alright You will wake me Never been, be alright Never been, be alright Never been, be alright Never been, be alright Beautiful girl Do you Do you Follow Agnes online: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/agnesobel Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/agnesobelofficial X: https://www.twitter.com/agnesobel Artist Website: https://www.agnesobel.com Recorded at La Fabrique Studios, France.
