“Shanghai Tiger” is Tommy Countach’s latest Italo Disco banger, transporting you straight into a 70s martial arts movie. No cliché is left behind—from cinematic fight sound effects and vintage synthesizers to repetitive fighting grunts. Imagine a movie where Bud Spencer teams up with Jackie Chan to take on drug dealers and the Chinese mafia—this is the soundtrack. The idea for the song was inspired by a place in Kronach, Germany, called the “Shanghai Tiger Lounge.” Once a Chinese restaurant and now a nightclub where Tommy has performed there several times. The venue still preserves much of its original interior, making it feel like the set of a forgotten kung fu classic. Huge poker tables, red lanterns, golden dragons, traditional wooden decorations, and an unmistakably nostalgic atmosphere instantly set the scene. Get ready—or this one will knock you out with pure Italo Disco fury. “Shanghai Tiger” is a high-energy tribute to cult martial arts cinema, packed with retro charm, driving basslines, soaring synths, and a wink at every genre cliché. Whether you're on the dancefloor or imagining the final showdown in a smoke-filled casino, this track delivers pure cinematic fun from start to finish.
