Personnel: Guillaume Saint-James, Saxophones & Piano; Chris Brubeck, Trombone & Piano; Didier Ithursarry, Accordion; Jerome Seguin, Electric Bass; Christophe Lavergne, Drums When I first played with Guillaume, it was clear we shared a love and joy of music. This spirit quadrupled when I played with Guillaume's remarkable friends, Didier, Jerome & Christophe. We wanted to share this special Franco/American jazz energy with people around the world. This CD features 4 excerpts from the symphonic work "Brothers in Arts: 70 Years of Liberty" which Guillaume and I wrote to honor our fathers' generation who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. "Wave of Tranquility" has a beautiful theme representing peaceful Normandy before WWII. "Liberty Waltz" captures the euphoria of the French people when the Allies liberated them. "Wolf Pack Boogie" tells the story of how Private Dave Brubeck's life was changed by a twist of fate when Dave volunteered to accompany some USO singers on piano. An Officer, hearing Dave play, ordered him to form a band, thinking it was better Private Brubeck raise the spirits of the troops with music rather than send him to the Battle of the Bulge. "Song of the Sons" features Latin and World music influences - now part of the musical language of our generation. Chris Brubeck, August 27, 2014
