简介
Heart On My Dirty Sleeve is a standalone country jukebox created after many trips through the DNA of American music. Arty coasts the range on the first disc from playing Possum on “Looking For A Loser,” to sensitive crooning a la Chet Baker in “Waiting For The Light to Change”. “The Golden Rule Don’t Apply” shows you why Arty teaches songwriting at the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, AL: he has hit material sitting around his albums where you normally find filler. On the second all-acoustic disc, Hill gets high and lonesome. Featuring IBMA Banjo Player of the Year Mike Munford and a co-write with Jason Ringenberg (“Beat On The Mountain”), it’s no less sweeping than the first disc. Hard drivers (“Two Nicoles”), old-timers (“Here Where The Rain Comes In”), and enough other varieties of grass to please fans from Martin to Hartford. These songs provide rare sustenance in the age of gelded Americana acts and amidst the invasion of aging punk rockers into Country who unfortunately brought their songwriting habits and image obsession with them. Hill’s seventh offering confirms he’s no hat act, and leaves you wondering where he’s going next. - Travis Kitchens
