Last summer when I moved from San Francisco, my home of almost 9 years, to Santa Cruz California, I took a nice break from the world to reflect on life and the universe. I moved to the redwood forest just up the mountain from this small coastal surfing town which is about an hour or so outside the SF bay area. Spending the lazy days of summer in an old cabin built in 1905. Outside my door is a small grove of redwoods and in the middle is a stump where one was cut down. I sat there each afternoon and meditated. Reflecting on the sunshine that came through the trees, listening to the trees eternal whispers and the ideas that came. I had also began experimenting with more free form playing and writing with a group of experimental electronic musicians called Memory Echo, based out of Santa Cruz. And so along came these flowing ideas of music, in one session, which were refined into songs and eventually this EP over the following months. While the music is a diversion from the bass and techno I've been known for, it does keep some of those elements while diving into more ambient textures and tones. I've been hugely influenced by ambient music and have written in this style before but not release much in this style.
