"And then, the wind changed..." is the 7th CD of original songs from Michael King and the first to be available online! The songwriting partnership of Gavin Marshall & Michael King began 2002, “The Year of the Outback”, when Michael teamed with Gavin to compose songs with an Australian theme (Gavin writing lyrics, Michael composing music). Over the years, this songwriting partnership has expanded, encompassing musical styles including adult contemporary, country/folk and music for children’s choirs. Recently, their focus has been on recording songs in their “home” studio, resulting in the self-produced CDs, “New Horizons” (2005), “Dusty Trails” (2006), “Is This It?” (2007), "Heading In The Right Direction" (2008), "People, Places, Faces, Life" (2009), "The Michael King Collection Volumes 1 & 2" (2009/10) and "Out West" (2011). Their latest CD, "And then, the wind changed..." features a diverse range of songs exploring the changes that life brings, encompassing styles of folk, pop and rock. They have had numerous songs shortlisted in the Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Competition, including 4 songs in 2012. Gavin Marshall: Gavin has an affinity with the Outback, capturing his love through photography, pictorial diaries and painting. During his time teaching in the Outback, Gavin started writing poetry about people, places and his experiences. Michael King: Music has played an important role in Michael’s life. During the early 90’s, Michael played keyboards and did backing vocals in the cover bands, “Riski Business” & “Big Issue” and now performs in a duo, “Brooks & King”. Currently, a primary school teacher, Michael has worked with children’s choirs and organized many, many concerts, productions and performances. Composing music has always been his passion, having started writing instrumental pieces for piano at an early age to writing songs with Gavin today.
