A work of great depth and beauty; dark and deep; intellectual Southern Gothic. The lyrics and music transport you to another sphere. Sophisticated, intelligent songs- intimately and emotionally sung and played by one of Louisiana’s premier singer/songwriters, pianists, and performers, “Cabaret Vieux Carre” stands among the best of Doug Duffey’s works. Taken from 3 different solo recording sessions done in New Orleans and Monroe, Louisiana between 1988-1992, the songs were recorded “live” in the studio in one take. As soon as one song was performed/recorded- and checked by the engineer- he went on to the next one; his preferred way of recording… and performing. These recordings are as close to a live Doug Duffey solo concert as you can get. Doug Duffey is a member of the Louisiana Hall of Fame & the National Blues Hall of Fame. Doug Duffey- vocal/acoustic grand piano Recorded at Ultrasonic Studios, New Orleans; JY Recording Studio, West Monroe, LA; and The John Cale Studio, Monroe, LA.
