LÂCHER-PRISE is the result of Athenaïs' personal growth and artistic experimentation. While releasing her debut album Codes Lumière, she struggled with perfectionism and control. This, combined with a trip to Mexico in 2022, led her to embrace the power of letting go. She realised that her music was simply a reflection of who she was at that moment and that our flaws and vulnerabilities are what connect us. During her travels, her analog camera broke, forcing her to capture her experience in a new way—through sound. She recorded the world around her: the jungle, animals, waterfalls, ceremonies, encounters, and local instruments. These recordings became central to the album. Her journey as a producer pushed her beyond her comfort zone, especially when working with rhythm and drums. Influenced by dark disco, indie dance, psychedelic rock, and the trance-like energy of electronic music, LÂCHER-PRISE became a way for her to experiment and create music that invites people to dance, let go, and lose themselves in the experience. During the production of LÂCHER-PRISE, Athenaïs launched an exciting new project: coucou records. This label, collective, and event series focuses on fostering creative experimentation, open-genre music, and community. The project began with “Club Coucou,” a unique event held in the church Genezarethkirche in Berlin, which blends the atmosphere of a club with the intimacy of a living room through live acts and bands. Athenaïs also invites artists from various disciplines to collaborate, creating immersive experiences for music and culture enthusiasts. The goal was to create a space in Berlin for experimentation, and this vision eventually evolved into a platform for releasing music. As LÂCHER-PRISE neared completion, it felt like the perfect opportunity to launch the label. After a brief break from events to finish the album, coucou records will host the release party at their Vol. 6 on April 3rd, 2025, at Genezarethkirche. Come join, it’ll be fun!
