简介

Recorded in the the winter of 2012 "Salty Blues" is a wholesome brew of folk, Americana, bluegrass, and jug band styles. The album features a new batch of songs from the multi instrumentalist with fun down home themes and jug band style instrumentation. There's plenty of guitar pickin and harmonica waillin' going on as well as some fiddle sawin' and mandolin pluckin' too! Bowman creates a fun style of acoustic music incorporating traditional around the house instruments like washboard, whiskey jug, and a home made bucket bass. "Salty Blues" is a return to rural country style music for Bowman. The songs range from topics like; a rambling lover in " Rollin' Stone Rag", from the story of a mysterious thief in the foot stompin' " Alleganey Janie", to making home brew in the drinking song " Back Woods Whiskey", or dancing in the kitchen with your good gal in the more commercial "Old Radio". Other themes include an unwelcome run in with the cops in the upbeat "Policeman Song" and a daughter who's an all the time party machine in "Sally Where You Sleepin" . There's ten original songs on the album and a version of the old time traditional "Salty Dog". The music of "Salty Blues" is acoustic and roots/ rural in essence. Bowman digs back in time for some of the rich Americana stylings that exist in traditional folk and string music from the 30s and 40's using them to shape his own style of songwriting and playing. The result is "Salty Blues". "So much is taking place in the modern realm of music, but there seems to be this resurgence of old style and string music taking place, musicians are going back to basics and the root of it all and maybe it's simply cause it just feels good in the soul." - Mark Bowman
