The idea for this song came one day when I was trying to get my kids ready to go to a party. I had my guitar in hand and started singing a melody I made up on the spot, "Hey kids it's time to go to the party, better put on your coat and your hat." My daughter (5 years old at the time) looked up at me and said, "I like that song, Daddy. It's a good song." And so it started. The more I wrote, the more I realized the party I was writing about was one with all sorts of people living together and learning from one another. And so many people who don't celebrate the uniqueness and differences people bring, well, they are "late to the party." I realized how much fun we have when we can all just be together. So let's have fun, and dance together. Keep a look out for the music video by the same name, "To the Party."
