简介
Join us around the witchcamp bonfire for an hour of Earth-based chants and songs. This beautiful new album includes five classic chants written by Starhawk, plus songs by T. Thorn Coyle, Suzanne Sterling, Laurie Lovekraft, and more - sung by a mixed chorus from our family camps accompanied by conga, guitar, flute, fiddle, clarinet - and even a ukelele! These are songs that have enlivened hundreds of pagan rituals, weddings and hand-fastings, birthdays and memorials over the years - many now recorded for the first time. The album is a virtual greatest hits of the 2000s from Reclaiming (see below), and includes Reclaiming’s go-to songs for spiral dances, youth camps, activism, magic classes - and for singing around the late-night campfire. Five chants were written by Starhawk, a teacher in the Reclaiming tradition. Her songs have been heard in rituals around the world. Some, including Sweet Water on this album, were written for street protests during anti-globalization actions. These are the first recordings of all five songs, which are sure to become classics. Other songs were contributed by magical musicians such as Suzanne Sterling, T. Thorn Coyle, and Laurie Lovekraft. They were chosen by the chorus as these artists’ most popular and enduring songs. Whether you are looking for chants for rituals or other events, or just want to hear some catchy and inspiring music - Campfire Chants may be just the ticket! Reclaiming is an international community uniting Earth-based spirituality with social and political activism. Reclaiming has released four prior albums of chants and songs, notably Chants: Ritual Music and Let It Begin Now. For info, google Reclaiming. The new album continues this tradition, collecting our most popular and beautiful songs from the past decade. Most have never been recorded before. Campfire Chants is an all-volunteer project, and will raise funds for Redwood Magic Family Camp and our vision of Reclaiming-tradition family camps. You can find out more by googling Redwood Magic Family Camp or Witchlets in the Woods. For more on adult retreats, google Witchcamp.
