简介
Have you ever heard the story of when an Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman went into a bar? Well, this album is what happens when a Japanese chick, English geezer, Australian fella and Singaporean dude enter a studio. Taking their name from the diverse influences and ethnicities that make up the band, FARRAGO aims to spread a message of positivity and good times in a way only they can. Hailing from sunny Singapore, the outfit comprises of vocalist/guitarist Dave Hawkes, bassist Miwa Furukawa and drummer Tristan North. Drawing on a variety of styles, ranging from Britrock, Indie, Ska and (yikes!) Metal, they’ve developed an eclectic sound, centred on hook-filled melodies, driving rhythms and half-decent lyrics. Oh, and Jonathan Suresh plays lead guitar. Taking their name from the diverse influences and ethnicities that make up the band, Farrago can trace their beginnings back to early 2012, when Dave met Jonathan through a mutual friend who needed decent musicians who would play a gig for no money. After a suitably disastrous first outing, Dave and Jonathan realised they had much in common (see: a love of music, football and beers) and decided to keep in touch. After a few impromptu jams over lagers, Dave declared that he wanted to start a rock band, simultaneously announcing his early-onset midlife crisis. Being terribly suggestible after a few drinks, Jonathan agreed. Thus began the first of several two-man attempts to compose listenable tunes, a short while after which Dave helpfully suggested, “a drummer might be nice.” Enter Tristan, skinsman extraordinaire and once described as “the best thing to come out of Australia since Vegemite.” Okay, not really. But the band had now begun to take shape and the search for a bassist was on. A couple of months later, Dave related to the rest that he actually knew a rather talented bassist who was easy on the eyes, asking if they were keen on her joining the band. Jonathan and Tristan immediately agreed, excitedly exclaiming, “you might have bloody told us two months ago, you prat.” Miwa then began rehearsing with the band, fitting like a glove and picking up the songs with ease. Farrago was well on its way. "Trilby Hats and Sunflowers" is the debut album from this foursome, and they hope you tap your feet, shed a tear, and sing along as loud as your neighbours allow.
