Musician, actor, and fight director Annie Enneking, and visual artist and performance maker Samantha Johns joined forces to create "what i want now i will want later," an intergenerational, lyrically potent and physically engaged performance feast. Meditating on the myth of Sirens, "what i want now i will want later" was a piece curious about the spiritual misdemeanors committed by a small group of people trying to live up to their potential while killing time. This album is the soundtrack for that performance event, which was equal parts video installation, CD release party, fight club, and theater. "Some of Annie Enneking’s songs in What I Want Now I Will Want Later are in the tradition of Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush, performers who know that the lightest touch can hit harder than a body-slamming beat." Jay Gabler, The Tangential "Enneking's lyrics make the production. Her earthy, no-nonsense wording and deep, guttural voice dig into something quite raw and feminine -- and feminist." Sheila Regan, The Dressing Room Blog, City Pages The project was made possible by funds from the Minnesota State Arts Board and The Jerome Foundation.
