Only a year after its inception, Dollar Sign Gang, production team, rap supergroup, and record label all in one hailing from East Oakland, CA is showing promise to be the next westcoast rap powerhouse. Founded, both label and group, in early 2008, Dollar Sign Gang consists of production and rap duo Faze and Luzion, known as Mastamindz, Lil Ric, C-Money, Mackin, Tek the Great, Mo Prince, and McFilthy. After releasing a countless amount mixtapes and several independent projects, including 2 Hard 4 The Radio, a collaborative effort with Vigilance Records which boasted features including E-40, Mistah Fab, Spice 1 and Luzion had pushed thousands upon thousands of units and were performing nationwide, though the needed to take it to the next level, and as they say, strength comes in numbers. Enter Lil Ric, a cousin of Faze who just so happened to stumble across Mastamindz creating a song in the studio, and amazed at the pure raw talent of the two, began to see dollar signs… literally. With Ric's street savvy and business mind, not to mention industry connections, and Mastamindz' undeniable talent, it wasn’t hard to put two and two together, and hence, Dollar Sign Gang was formed. Though more of a family than a label, Lil Ric and Mackin, both brought to the table with him two younger brothers, C-Money and Mackin, both with the ability, appetite and appreciation for hip hop unrivaled by most newcomers, while Mastamindz initiated long time associate Tek the Great into the group. Another cousin, Mo Prince, founder of Cassanova Ent., along with McFilthy, were also brought to the table, and thus Dollar Sign Gang and Dollar Sign Records was official. The group has been hard at work ever since, dropping multiple mixtapes throughout the streets of Oakland while their buzz is spreading like a Southern California wildfire. With two publishing companies set up, label, production and mixing capabilities, and projects on the way, Dollar Sign Gang are soon to prove that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the industry, and in their hostile takeover, it doesn't look like much will be standing in their way.
