Don't let the mob cover photo deceive you: this band is all rockabilly riot. Guitars growling, drums thumping, Maureen wailing alone or in seamless harmony with bandmates and your mind drifts to thoughts of steamy Ann Margret & Elvis movies, James Dean races and rowdy nights at the drive-in. Maureen & the Mercury 5 is the secret sideshow of lead singer Maureen Davis of THE FLUTTERBIES, and Bassist Steve Whalen, also of THE FLUTTERBIES. The band draws it's sound from late 50's and early 60's Jump, Swing and Rockabilly -- Elvis, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Bill Hailey & His Comets and Ann Margret - but Producer Scotty Lund has put a modern twist on these retro-originals. Sultry singer Maureen and guest artist, crooner Douglas Roegiers (Phat Cat Swinger and NBC's "The Winner Is") take you to a party for your ears. M&M5's signature sound also features the infamous Guitarist Eitaro Sako (Phat Cat Swinger, Switchblade 3), Drummer "Tommygun" Goddard, renowned Pianist Jason Eoff (Wanda Jackson, Deke Dickerson). If you're in California, go see the band live: www.maureenandthemercury5.com lists all shows. SRO audiences at Viva Las Vegas (the largest rockabilly festival in the world), a 6 month residency aboard the historical Queen Mary in Long Beach as well as July 4th and New Year's Eve celebrations on the ship playing to 1000s; Joe's Bar, Lindy Hop home to LA's finest dancers; Hip Kitty Jazz & Fondue in Claremont; and benefits for the Arthritis Foundation and American Family Housing.
