Twenty Lies and Other Stories introduces listeners to a young woman falling desperately in love with the wrong man, a bail jumper, finding fleeting love along the Mexican border, a father driven to a desperate course of action– as well as many other characters populating the eleven original songs on this ambitious new release from singer-songwriter Ray Lambiase. The CD samples a variety of musical styles, from traditional folk, and roots country, to mariachi and Celtic influenced arrangements. Returning musicians - including nationally renowned musicians Kenny Kosek (Jerry Garcia, James Taylor) on fiddle and John Widgren (Martina McBride, Toby Keith) on pedal steel - are joined by guitarists Howard Emerson (Billy Joel, Eric Andersen), Mark Newman (John Hall, Sam Moore), and a bluegrass visit from the young and upcoming Fienberg Brothers on mandolin and fiddle. Ray has appeared in concert with Dave Van Ronk, Asleep at the Wheel, Suzanne Vega, John Phillips, Pure Prairie League, Dr. John, Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman among many others. His songwriting has been recognized with publishing contracts with Combine Music in Nashville, and Bob Dylan’s Special Rider Music publishing arm in New York.
