Teddy Ribbens has been a professional musician for a decade both as bass player and a drummer but In the last three years he has focused his energy more on singing, writing, producing and performing his own original music that encompasses all of his most beloved genres and sub-genres. The production aesthetic of his first solo record, "Five by Five," has a distinct 70's vibe, but there are direct elements of more modern acts such as Beck, Zero-7, Radiohead and Air. The songwriting places a high value on lush sonorities and thick chord voicings, however, the rhythms are groove-based and the song forms are spare. Lyrically, the material from "Five by Five" is creatively metaphorical and drawn directly from Teddy's life experiences.
